The Journey

Our Story:
Summer 2005 at the Hard Rock Cafe in London. She was the bartender, he was the waiter. Their spark burnt down the restaurant so they transferred to the Hard Rock in Sydney. Then decided to make a road trip out of it.

Australia is a big place! We first thought that a 5 month trip would do the job. But it took 3 to afford a VW Kombi and we had barely left Sydney! Oz Story: We headed north towards Queensland: land of the banana benders to explore all it’s treasures. The relentless tac-tac-tacs and the occasional paff of the engine somehow chugging us along at 80 kph for 18000 kms throughout the vast state. From pristine shorelines to the remote outback. From the hustle and bustle of cities to the tranquilness of country towns. Along the way we met up with many friends and made many more. It was a beautiful journey. We had a Hard Rock London reunion in Surfers Paradise. Got put up by the loveliest people in Childers. Enjoyed many National Parks and a few UNESCO world heritage sites. Snorkeled the Great Barrier Reef. Busted our asses picking fruit and veggies. Lived in a beautiful house in Cairns. Got a visit from Andrew’s parents and explored the Tropical North. Amongst many other things.

Sadly we parted with the Kombi as we wanted some extra robustness and a bit more horsepower on the West Coast where distances are far greater and the asphalt doesn’t spaghetti throughout the state. The Range Rover purrs it’s thirsty V8 all the way from desert rocky outcrops to sunny desert beaches. Starting in the South West: Beautiful Margaret River with it’s World class wineries and some of the best surf Australia has to offer. We once again followed the warm weather North. Partied hard in Fremantle. Went hiking through all the National Parks, scored another UNESCO site, climbed the world’s biggest rock, snorkeled with turtles, stingrays and sharks on the worlds second largest barrier reef... Jealous? See you all soon
